28 October 2025, Quezon City
The National Information Summit 2025 organized by the Presidential Communications Office, with the theme “Decoding Data and AI: Transforming Journalism for People-Centered Communication,” was held at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City. This event brought together state media and broadcasting organizations to strengthen the country’s media and information literacy campaigns.
On the second day of the summit, Engr. Chris Perez, Assistant Weather Services Chief at DOST-PAGASA, delivered a presentation on “Communicating DOST-PAGASA’s Forecast Products and Services.” He emphasized that disaster preparedness is everyone’s responsibility, and that when communities work together, they can protect lives, minimize damage, and build resilience.
Meanwhile, Ms. Charmaine V. Villamil of DOST-PHIVOLCS discussed “Communicating Geologic Information and Tools for Disaster Resilience.” She highlighted that, beyond earthquake drills and preparedness measures, ensuring the structural integrity of buildings must also remain a top priority.
As part of its information, education, and communication (IEC) initiatives, DOST-PAGASA also distributed Broadcasters’ Manuals to state media practitioners and communicators participating in the summit.
