Safer Seas: DOST-PAGASA Backs Unified Framework on Maritime Search and Rescue
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to maritime safety by joining the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) initiative of a unified cooperation framework on maritime search and rescue. DOST-PAGASA Administrator Dr. Nathaniel Servando joined the signing of the Pledge of Commitment Board during the Grand Launching Ceremony of the Interim Philippine National Maritime Search and Rescue (PNMSAR) Manual held last October 10, 2025 at the PCG National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
The ceremony was held following the conclusion of the National Maritime Search and Rescue Conference 2025 held on 06 to 08 October 2025 at Tagaytay City. This event convened various maritime agencies and uniformed services to formulate the PNMSAR Manual, clarify their roles, responsibilities, and resources on matters related to maritime SAR, and identify cooperation mechanisms. Representing DOST-PAGASA in this event was Mr. Robb P. Gile, Senior Weather Specialist of the Marine Meteorological Services Section-Weather Division.
As the country’s national marine meteorological authority, DOST-PAGASA reaffirms its dedication to ensuring safer seas by providing timely and reliable weather and meteocean information for safer seas across the country.
