The weather system that will affect the Philippine archipelago towards the Election Day is the approaching Low Pressure Area (LPA) over Visayas and Mindanao embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Today until Saturday (May 10-11), the whole country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening, especially over the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), which may cause flash floods and/or landslides in high risk areas.

On Sunday (May 12) and Monday (May 13, election day), Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by ITCZ, which will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon rainshowers or thunderstorms especially over the CAR.

Light southwesterly to westerly winds will prevail over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao while light winds blowing from the southwest and southeast is expected over the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters will be slight except during thunderstorms.
