Recent PAGASA's climate monitoring and analyses suggest that La Niña may develop in the coming months. La Niña is characterized by unusually cool ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific (CEEP). Since August 2020, further cooling of sea surface temperatures (SSTs) have been observed across the CEEP, while atmospheric indicator is now at La Niña thresholds.
