DOST-PAGASA commemorates Meteorological Day 2019



The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) will celebrate the 154th National / 69th World Meteorological Day on March 22, 2019 in PAGASA Science Garden, Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City, with this year’s theme: “The Sun, the Earth and the Weather.”

The agency will celebrate this momentous event by conducting several activities including: Press Conference on El Niño Update, National Forum on El Niño and PAGASA Loyalty Awards ceremony. Culminating the day’s event is conferment of Wind Vane Awards, the highest award given by the agency to recognize the contribution and support of individuals and/or organizations to DOST-PAGASA’s efforts in disaster risk reduction and climate change. There will also be Trade Fair open to all participants on the event.

In addition, a three-day S&T exhibit highlighting DOST DRR Cluster will be up in PAGASA Main Lobby from March 20-22, 2019 and free Planetarium lectures on March 22, 2019. These activities will be open to public.

World Meteorological Day annually takes place on March 23rd, commemorating the establishment of World Meteorological Organization in 1950. In the national setting, DOST-PAGASA celebrates National Meteorological Day by virtue of Proclamation no. 594 signed in 1995.
