SPECIAL WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR NEW YEAR 2025

The weather systems that are expected to affect most parts of the country during the New Year celebrations are the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), the Shear Line, and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
On Tuesday (31 December), cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region due to the Shear Line. The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) while partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon. Meanwhile, Visayas, Caraga, and MIMAROPA will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rain showers or thunderstorms.
On Wednesday (01 January), the Shear Line will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region. The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the rest of Cagayan Valley, while partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the Ilocos Region. Meanwhile, Visayas and Caraga will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rain showers or thunderstorms.
Strong to gale-force winds associated with the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will prevail over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, potentially resulting in rough to very rough sea conditions. Moderate to strong northeasterly to easterly winds may affect the western section of Luzon and the eastern section of the country, while light to moderate winds are expected over the rest of the country.
